Project Overview

Located in Lansing, Michigan, Everett High School sits within one of the state’s largest public school districts.

As part of a $120 million bond program within the Lansing School District, Everett High School underwent significant exterior upgrades designed to improve security, functionality, and visual identity.

c2ae’s design approach blended existing architecture with new interventions, including a reimagined courtyard and a canopy addition that refreshed the building’s facade without fundamentally altering its structure.

The visual documentation needed to clearly communicate that transformation.

Strategic Context

For c2ae, this project was not about interior detailing or material close-ups. It was about visible change.

Bond-funded projects carry public accountability. The imagery needed to demonstrate tangible improvements to the community while reinforcing c2ae’s ability to modernize legacy educational facilities.

Because the architectural intervention focused on the building envelope and public entry sequence, the photography strategy centered on:

• Facade clarity
• Entry hierarchy
• Site presence
• Before-and-after perception
• Civic visibility

Exterior architectural photography carries a different responsibility than interior documentation. It becomes part of the public narrative.

Visual Approach

This exterior architectural photography engagement in LansingĀ combined ground-level photography, aerial perspectives, and drone timelapse documentation to present a comprehensive exterior story.

Ground-Level Perspective

Street-level photography focused on how the new canopy and courtyard reshaped the experience of arrival. Compositions were structured to emphasize transparency, scale, and accessibility.

Aerial Context

Drone photography provided spatial clarity, showing how the courtyard and facade updates fit within the broader campus environment. Aerial views reinforced the scope of the improvements in a way that ground imagery alone could not.

Twilight Exterior Capture

Twilight photography elevated the project’s visual impact. While not every project benefits from evening capture, this building’s new facade elements and lighting conditions warranted it.

Weather conditions required multiple site visits to achieve the desired results. That flexibility ensured the final images reflected the building at its best, rather than settling for acceptable conditions.

Timelapse Drone Documentation

The addition of drone timelapse footage provided dynamic content for digital platforms. Movement across the facade and shifting light conditions reinforced the building’s transformation and offered versatile assets for social and web use.

Still photography and motion were captured with the same compositional discipline, ensuring consistency across formats.

Client Perspective

ā€œEverything looks GREAT!! The photos and video are just so good. Thank you for your amazing work and collaboration. I look forward to our next project together.ā€

– Gretchen Foley, Marketing Coordinator, c2ae
